How play-along scoring works
After a four-beat count-in, each chord gets one bar of four beats. When you press Play it with us, the mic opens and your browser listens for the chord that should be sounding, within 120 milliseconds either side of the change. Land it close and the chip reads ON TIME; a little off reads EARLY or LATE. All three count as landed.
A chip only reads MISSED when the mic confidently hears a different chord. A quiet mic, a muffled strum or silence reads NOT SURE, never wrong. A few chord types (m7, maj7, sus2) are hard for a microphone to tell apart, so those are graded against the nearest shape it can hear: Em7 as Em, Cmaj7 as C. You still find out whether you had the right root at the right moment. If a song uses a capo, finger the shapes shown; scoring listens for the pitch that actually sounds.
To work on a change, play the song through once and note which chords come back MISSED or NOT SURE. Songs here run at their own tempo, so take the two chords you keep missing to backing tracks, type them in, and loop them slower until the change is clean. Then come back and play the whole song.
