Learn it, then check it. Every lesson ends with a quick quiz and a link to practice on the real tool.

Chords

How triads are built, why open shapes work the way they do, and how to name what you're playing.

Scales

The seven scales every guitarist leans on — what each one sounds like and when to reach for it.

Intervals

The distances between notes, in semitones — the foundation of ear training and chord building.

How the three lessons fit together

These aren’t three separate subjects. Intervals are the unit of measurement: every note in a chord or a scale is some number of semitones above a root. The chords lesson stacks those distances vertically, so a major triad is a major 3rd and a perfect 5th sounding together over the root. The scales lesson lays the same distances out in a row, which is why the notes of a C major chord all turn up in the C major scale. Once that clicks, a solo over a chord stops being guesswork: you’re aiming at the scale notes the chord already contains.

Each lesson ends with a short quiz and hands you to a tool that makes the idea physical. Chords sends you to the chord library, scales to the scale trainer’s fretboard, and intervals to the ear trainer. Reading a lesson takes a few minutes; the tool is where it sticks, so give the tool more time than the page.

If you want an order to follow, the free course places each lesson inside its Foundations stage, between the tuner, metronome, and strumming work, with its tool straight after it. Chords come first, then scales, then intervals feeding into ear training, and a real song follows soon after, so what you learn here gets used before it fades.

Next step

These lessons are Stage 1 material.

Chords, scales, and intervals are the Foundations stage of the free course. Follow it in order, then finish where the course does — training with the coach.
